Mediation Services

Abruzzi ADR provides mediation services for individuals, businesses, and organizations in Vancouver, Calgary, and Toronto, as well as for matters conducted remotely where appropriate. Mediation is a voluntary and confidential process designed to assist parties in resolving disputes collaboratively with the support of an independent and impartial mediator. The process focuses on constructive dialogue, informed decision-making, and practical solutions tailored to the needs and interests of the parties involved.

What Is Mediation?

Mediation is a non-binding dispute resolution process in which a neutral third party facilitates communication between disputing parties to help them reach a mutually acceptable resolution. The mediator does not impose a decision but assists in identifying issues, exploring options, and guiding negotiations in a structured and balanced manner.

Mediation allows parties to retain control over both the process and the outcome.

Types of Disputes Suitable for Mediation

Mediation services may be appropriate for a wide range of disputes, including:

⃝✔ Family and parenting-related matters

⃝✔ Separation and divorce-related issues

⃝✔ Business and commercial disputes

⃝✔ Contractual disagreements

⃝✔ Workplace and employment-related matters

⃝✔ Ongoing relationship or post-agreement disputes

Each matter is assessed individually to determine whether mediation is appropriate based on the circumstances.

The Mediation Process

While each mediation is tailored to the needs of the parties, the process generally includes:

  1. Initial consultation and intake

  2. Agreement to mediate and process orientation

  3. Identification of issues and information exchange

  4. Facilitated negotiation sessions

  5. Development of mutually acceptable resolutions

  6. Documentation of agreements, where applicable

The process is designed to be flexible while maintaining procedural clarity and fairness.

Confidentiality and Participation

Mediation proceedings are confidential, subject to limited legal exceptions. Confidentiality supports open communication and allows parties to explore resolution options without prejudice.

Participation in mediation is voluntary, and parties are encouraged to obtain independent legal or professional advice throughout the process.

Locations and Remote Services

Mediation services are offered in Vancouver, Calgary, and Toronto, with remote mediation available where appropriate. Virtual mediation may provide flexibility for parties located in different regions or seeking an alternative to in-person sessions.
